Exeter Arms

6-1
Ref: Iain Danson

Fosse City
Bayliss

squad: Norton, Hoegger, Hillsdon, Jones, Barnett, Knight, Creedon, Dunmore, Morgan, Bayliss, W.Carter

With Fosse down to their last remaining 11 players, they made the trip to Uppingham to face old friends Exeter Arms
Despite playing on the much talked about 3G pitch, Fosse tried to play their football but were always up against it, with the Exeter No 8 running things in the midfield.
Top Scorer Barnett volunteerd to fill the vacant centre half spot along side Jones, with Hoegger and Hillsdon (yes . .. . . . Hillsdon) completing the make shift back 4.

Fosse battled hard, but in truth there were not many highlights. Norton made a string of impressive saves, Morgan got a bloodied nose and Hillsdon had a shot. Oh, and Bayliss bagged from 20 yards into the top corner.

The Exeter goals were a mixed bag. One wonder strike from the right back, a couple of decent ones too, and then of course Hoegger getting his obligatory assist (for the opposition) for the season.

Despite a red card at the end, the game was played in the right spirit, with the over head wires causing more problems for the ref than the players. Fosse were okay, and credit must go to the boys for giving it a go, even with players missing, they kept their heads up.

Quote of the match goes to Alex @ Exeter, 'You can't polish a turd'

Cheers for the game, all the best for the next round
